Vibrate to the rhythm of events in the Haut-Garonne Pyrenees

There’s never a dull moment here! Whether it’s the middle of winter under the snowflakes or the height of summer, every season brings its share of not-to-be-missed events. I’ve lived here for years, and with each new event, I rediscover the warm atmosphere that makes our region so special. Concerts in the heart of nature, ancient traditions, sporting challenges or delicacies to share… There’s always a good reason to get together and celebrate.

Conviviality guaranteed
at the Luchon Players Festival

As soon as the Luchon Players Festival starts, it’s a real pleasure to be immersed in the excitement of the shows! My friends and I have our own little routine: a stroll around town before going to see a play, then a drink on the terrace to catch up and talk about the performances that have impressed us. Every year, this festival attracts theatre lovers from all over the region, with a wide range of performances, from light-hearted comedies to poignant dramas. Don’t forget to book your tickets – the theatres fill up fast!

Winter Week-End : Luchon in
cold and festive mode

As soon as winter sets in, Luchon comes alive with the Winter Week-End! For me, it’s a must: downhill skiing during the day, hot chocolate at the gourmet market and an evening by the fire in a guaranteed festive atmosphere. Last year, I even tried my hand at a fun biathlon… and came in last place! But it doesn’t matter what the rankings are, the important thing here is to enjoy and share unforgettable moments with friends and family.

Tribute to a cycling
with La Lapébie

Every year, the Lapébie brings together cycling enthusiasts, and I have to admit that the atmosphere at the start line is as exhilarating as ever. The roads wind their way through the magnificent scenery of the Pyrenees and, although the climbs are formidable, the effort is always rewarded with breathtaking views. Last year, I opted for the intermediate route and met cyclists of all levels, who came to take up the challenge in good spirits.

Hum and nostalgia
during Luchon Motors Days

If you’re a fan of classic cars, you won’t want to miss the Luchon Motors Days. I always take my uncle, a vintage car enthusiast, there, and each time he finds models that bring back memories of his youth. The demonstrations on closed roads, the vintage motorbike exhibition and the friendly atmosphere of the festival make it a unique event, where the smell of petrol mingles with that of grilled meats from the gourmet stands.

Luchon Triathlon: a sporting feat
in a magnificent setting

I’m more of a spectator than a participant in this kind of event, but what a spectacle! Seeing these athletes link up swimming, cycling and running with such determination commands respect. As they pass by, you cheer enthusiastically and let yourself be carried along by their incredible energy. The setting, between mountains and rivers, adds an even more magical dimension to this competition.

Fire dances during
St. John's Day Brandon

This festival is one of my favourite times of the year. Watching the huge firebrands ignite under the starry Pyrenean sky is a spectacle both ancient and fascinating. It’s a time for dancing, singing and sharing large convivial tables. It’s a time to get together and celebrate the arrival of summer with heart-warming fervour.

The Luchon Aneto Trail
to the peaks of paradise

Every year, I promise myself that I’m going to take part… and every year, I’m content to admire the runners as they take on the summits! This trail is an extraordinary adventure, with spectacular routes through the landscapes of the Pyrenees. Whether you’re a runner or a spectator, it’s an unforgettable experience and a thrill to behold.

Tour de France 2025 :
the thrill of the stage

The days when the Tour de France passes through Luchon are special days. The roads fill up with spectators from all over, the atmosphere is electric, and when the riders take to the streets of the town, there’s an explosion of applause and shouts of encouragement. To attend a stage here is to experience a moment of intense sport and unrivalled popular celebration.

Luchon in lights
during the Flower Festival

From the first notes of music and the first petals twirling in the air, you know that the Flower Festival has begun. Each float is a real masterpiece, colourful and joyful, and the parade transforms the town into a living tableau. I love seeing the children marvelling at the costumes and the dancers. It’s a magical moment that makes the eyes of young and old shine.

Music at its best
during the CosmoJazz Festival

Imagine listening to a jazz concert in the middle of the mountains, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. That’s exactly what the CosmoJazz Festival offers, and the experience is absolutely magical. Last year, we took a picnic and climbed up to the concert venue: an hour’s walk, but what a reward once we got up there!

Traditions and delicacies
at Hesta Gascona

If you want to discover the soul of the Gascony region, this is the place to be. With traditional dances, farmers’ markets and tastings of local specialities (ah, that garbure!), it’s a total immersion in the traditions of the region. I always leave the festival with a basket full of local produce and a smile on my face.

The wild and captivating
the captivating spectacle of the

When autumn arrives, I always take the time togo and listen to the stag bellow with my children. It’s an incredible experience to hear this powerful cry echoing through the forest at dusk. You walk in silence, you watch, you wait… And then, suddenly, a stag appears, majestic. It’s a thrilling encounter, and a reminder of just how fascinating nature can be.

Marble and Art Festival :
stone in majesty

Every summer, craftsmen and artists gather in Saint-Béat-Lez to celebrate marble in all its forms. It’s impressive to see them sculpting live and transforming stone into works of art. I particularly enjoy seeing new talent mingling with established sculptors, in an atmosphere that blends tradition and modernity.

The Haut-Garonne Pyrenees are a land of encounters, festivals and traditions, where every event is a promise of new discoveries and great moments to share. Whether you’re just passing through or living here like me, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the festive spirit that keeps the Pyrenees buzzing all year round. So, what’s your next adventure?
