The Luchon Aero Club was founded in 1950 thanks to the determination and enthusiasm of a handful of enthusiasts around Léon Elissalde. Situated in the heart of the Pyrenees, at the foot of the highest peaks in the chain and at the confluence of 5 valleys, the Luchon aerodrome enjoys an exceptional location and ideal aerology for magnificent flights.
Gliding is the primary vocation of the flying club. It takes many forms.
The first step. An introductory flight in a two-seater glider, accompanied by an experienced pilot, will be your first taste of the gliding world. It will help you understand and feel “how it works”. We offer two glider discovery flights for one person: the first at the end of the morning to the high peaks and the second in the afternoons in the Luchonnais area. It is also possible to offer gift vouchers valid for 1 year, depending on the package chosen.
A more in-depth itinerary. If adventure and the silence of the sky are calling you, the 3 or 6-day introductory course is ideal for learning the basics of flying at your own pace. This will give you the opportunity to get used to this unknown element, gently and in harmony with … yourself. Naturally.
Student pilot then pilot. Have you got the urge? Then don’t wait any longer, join the club for a 3 or 4 week course or for the whole year. With the guidance of an experienced instructor, our dual control flying lessons will give you the immense pleasure of your first solo flight and the satisfaction of earning your pilot’s licence.
Experienced pilot. Would you like to improve your flying skills or do some performance flights in the mountains? With the club’s equipment or your own machine, Luchon is an ideal destination.
The flying club also offers sightseeing flights.
Whether you’re taking a stroll or a first flight, a flight in an aeroplane is a unique experience! Accompanied by an experienced professional or private pilot, 3 of you can board one of our aircraft and set off to discover the peaks, cirques and lakes of the Luchonnais, some of the most beautiful in the Pyrenees. We offer morning discovery flights for 1, 2 or 3 people.

RECOMMENDATIONS :
Getting into the aircraft requires a certain amount of mobility
Maximum weight per person: 90-95 kg, max height 1.85m
For gliders: minimum weight 45 kg, minimum height 1.45 m/ minimum legal age 14 years.
Recommended gliding attire: sunglasses, cap or preferably bob, closed shoes, no dresses or skirts.
By plane: children must be accompanied by an adult. No infants
The club is ranked 4th out of 26 in the Occitanie region.
Pets are not allowed on the airfield.
